Play-offs penalty anguish leaves Charlton in League One

After finishing fourth in League One after 46 games, Charlton found themselves paired with Swindon Town in the play-off semi finals. A 2-1 defeat at the County Ground on Friday left the Addicks in with a shout at The Valley for the second leg, but despite taking a two-goal lead in the first half Charlton were pegged back one leading to extra time and a penalty shoot-out defeat which ended their promotion dreams.

Manager Phil Parkinson's reaction to the heartbreaking defeat can be found here.
